WU WEI SHAN Sculpture Exhibition

During art classes, we had an visit to WU WEI SHAN cultural figures Sculpture Gallery of Nanjing nuseum .Through this visit, we learnt a lot about the sculpture.I deeply attracted by his artworks.His artworks proved he is China and even the world's outstanding sculptors. The sculpture that he made are filled with Chinese characteristics.He works of art is the perfect combination of traditional and modern.His artworks are carved lifelike and showed the characterristic of the man that he carved. here i would like to intruduce an artwork that he made to you.

This sculpture must be one of the most famous artwork that ha made ->. this sculpture have won the "Pangolin Prize" from Royal British Society of Sculptors . He is the only one of the Chinese won this award.it also have an amusing story about this artwork. one day Wu Wei Shan went to his friend's home for a business.but his friend was not at home. so Wu Wei Shan have to stay at his friend's home and killing time. suddenly he found his friend's child was sleeping.because of his aesthetic instinct.He took out the plaster and started to carved the sculpture with the prototype of his friend's child. after he finished this sculpture he just put it on the desk.when his friend came back. His friends were very surprised about his creation.but Wu Wei Shan does not think it was good.anyway,his Friend send this sculpture to Royal British Society of Sculptors.As a results,the sculpture attracted the examiner's high praise and decided to give he a prize.Everything happened so coincidence. but when i saw this artwork i don't think it is a coincidence.Because he had the ability to make sculpture every time everywhere! He must put a lot of effort on his art.


This sleeping baby was permeated with abstract style.We can only through several ways of carving to felt that the sleeping baby's comfort and peaceful. This artwork is not big but very vividly.


By looking at this artwork, it remained me my childhood. I can't help feeling sleepy.
